There is no question that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and GT2 RS are related. This relationship is not simply at a marque level. But, what are the differences?

Siblings

What I mean by the above is that the Porsche 991 GT3 RS and GT2 RS are essentially big brother and little brother. They’re not quite twins. One was born earlier, and could be described as a vegan power-lifter. The other one, the baby brother, is the super-talented prodigy athlete that somehow always does a little bit better than the older brother — Mainly because it learned everything from the older brother and then dailed it all up to 11 and a half.

The thing is, they are still very closely related. Barring the hardcore Porsche enthusiasts, most people cannot tell them apart. The plan is to clear up those differences right now.

In the video below our goal is to compare both of these super cars. Note that I just called them super cars. In the video, Danny also called them that. The thing is, most car guys see Porsches as top-of-the-line sports cars. However, unless they are referring to the Porsche 918 Spyder and the precursor to that one, the Carrera GT, most people don’t see Porsches as super cars. The reason for that is that at the heart of the GT3 RS and the GT2 RS is the 911 platform. The 911 is the every day sports car.

That aside, there is no question the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and GT2 RS are true and true supercars. The fact that both beat 2 million dollar+ hyper cars on the Nürburgring should be the deciding factor. Both cars did this even though they are street legal cars. And yes, these two are nowhere near hyper car money. The GT2 RS’ top price is close to $360,000. I don’t even know what the going price is for someone that really wanted one but has trouble getting a hold of one and would be willing to pay way more than that. The hammer still drops where a car under $400,000 can beat a 2 million dollar hyper car on the ‘Ring and still happily crawl at 1.5 miles per hour at the Starbucks drive through, comfortably.

I’m not going to go into all the details regarding the differences between these two cars. Danny did an excellent job in the video. After all, that’s what this post is here for. We want you to watch it.
